Les has recently enjoyed a workshop day with Tubalaté, hosted by Beulah Brass in North Wales.
The day began with all of the players assembling to sightread repertoire for the evening concert. After this, delegates were taken through their paces in sectional members led by Paul Walton, John Powell, Jonathan Gawn and Les Neish.
The concert featured Tubalaté performing original works and arrangements including Andy Scott's popular "Bite the Bullet" for Tuba Quartet and Drum Kit. The group were joined by local musician Matty Roberts for this performance.
With only a day to rehearse the band put on a great show performing to a very high level and also accompanying Les in a stunning rendition of Hora Staccato and Paul Walton and John Powell in a beautiful performance of The Prayer.
The day was a resounding success with one participant commenting "I learned so much personally but also I was amazed with Tubalate and what a tuba could really do. Wow! Another thing it highlighted to me was the benefits gained through sectional rehearsals"
